Top Three 2015 by Gemma

Hi All

This is my first ever top three. First I would like to thank Jennie for inviting me to join the creative team, and for the wonderful stamps I have had the pleasure of creating with.
Looking back at past projects, and choosing three was an interesting process. Some I could easily dismiss as I no longer love them as I did when I created them (I'm sure I am not the only one that looks back at past pieces with mixed feelings), still picking three was difficult.

My first pick is the Tag Box I made in November.

I love that it has a practical use, it is a piece I will use for years to come. It combines all my favourite  crafty techniques.

My second pick was my first post an Altered CD

Making these altered CDs was such a playful process and looking back I can still remember how excited I was to be invited to join the team.

My third pick was my Poe Tag

This tag shows the other side of how I like to create, with lots of dark/ muted colours and a good quote.

I still love all these projects, am I am very lucky to be able to say I will be taking a workshop on my Tag Box next April at The Artistic Stamper,

I would like to thank everyone for their comments on here, and on my personal blog. I hope to hear from lots more of you in the coming year. You can also find the facebook page here and please join in the monthly challenges, for a chance to win lovely stamps.

Slight Quirky Christmas Card by Gemma

Hi Everyone

I do not as a whole enjoy making Christmas cards. I think my attention wanders due to the sheer number you are expected to make. Saying that I really enjoyed the messiness of this card, and the fact that it is quite non traditional, or as the other half said with a frown "that's a bit quirky" (opps! I don't think he likes this years card, but I do xxx).

It was one of those pieces where part way through, you think of putting it in the bin, but by the end you love it, its so easy to reproduce and think of all the things you could put in the light bulb (which is why it is one of my favourite stamps)
To start I stamped and cut out a mask of the large light bulb stamp, which I held down onto the card and scraped crushed grape and vibrant turquoise dylusions paint over the top.

Keeping the mask in place I stamped both the Grid and Harlequin Background stamps in the same colour paints. Then I removed the mask, and stamped the light bulb. Then I painted it with a titan buff acrylic paint. I also added a little titan buff to the background with the edge of a card.

I stamped Merry Christmas using the decay alphabet , which I went over with both black and white paint pens. I also stamped a little holly stamp in the light bulb and around the edges of the card. To finished I drew around the light bulb with the black paint pen and added some white in places with the white paint pen.

Christmas Tag by Shilpa

Hello Everyone,
Shilpa here,
I made this quick tag for Christmas.

Here are the steps of making:
  • Apply Vintage photo distress paint on the surface, let it dry.
  • Cut out harlequin design with die and adhere it at the corner.
  • Give next coat of color with broken china distress paint. Heat set it.
  • For the next layer I applied tarnished bass distress paint.
  • On the other white cardstock, stamp steampunk baubles and Merry Christmas sentiment  with Archival ink.Cut it to adhere on tag.
  • Cut out holidays leaves with Tim Holtz die.
  • Arrange everything on the surface and tag is ready.
Hope I inspired you to create your own tags for this season.

Christmas Card by Debs

Hi  All

Here is a Christmas Card I made using a Gelli print, Jewelled Snowflake and Ornaments stamp plate and the Christmas Greeting #1 plate.

First I stamped and embossed the lightbulb onto plain white card and then stamped and embossed a large snowflake using Versamark Ink and Wow Silver Embossing Powder
Then I stamped and embossed the banner from the Borders #1 plate and the Swirl Background Open stamp.
I then cut all three elements out.

I found some silver twine and made some bows and stuck these to the lightbulbs.

I made a Gelli print using Brushed Pewter Distress Paint with a little bit of Broken China and did three or four pulls from the Gelli Plate.  Once they were dry I stamped the same large snowflake with White Linen Dylusions paint over the whole of one of the sheets in a random manner, ensuring that the snowflakes weren't too dominant i wanted a subtle effect so that the one in the lightbulb would stand out.
Apologies for the lack of photos at this point - Brain was obviously not in gear

I cut the card down to a DL size and also trimmed the gelli print and then mounted it onto a piece of card, distressed the edges and mounted onto the card with 3D tape, adding the banner before sticking down.
I Added one lightbulb directly to the paper and the other one with 3D tape overlapping slightly.
Thanks for Stopping By

We wish you a merry Christmas by Titbelsoeur

Hello happy readers, this is Titbelsoeur today showing you how to easily make nice greeting cards.

First, stamp your baubles, snowflakes, trees and greetings from the Christmas stamp plates on to a watercolor paper with Archival black ink.
Then add watercolor in 2 steps : start with warm colors on the background of card 1 and on the baubles on card 2, let dry and then add cold colors at the opposite.
Then end splashing white paint :

Cut your paper and stick each card on color paper to make your cards :

and here they are... quick and easy, and gorgeous, aren't they ?

Christmas Lights Canvas By Gemma

I created this 30x30 cm canvas, with lots of different Dylusions paints that I built up in layers. I built the layers by scrapping paint and sponging paint through the chevron and large dot masks. Then I stamped jewelled snowflakes over the top, pierced holes in the centres and glued lights in place.
I am really looking forward to seeing everyone's entries, and hope you feel inspired by all our pieces.

Hi everyone I hope you are all going to join in with us for our Christmas challenge.
I have done a Tag for this one and used lots of layers and distress inks and sprays.
stamped into clay then the star was cut out of it.  More details and photos can be found on my blog.

I've created this dazzling Christmas card with The Artistic Stamper Tree stamp and sentiment. Background is done with distress ink watercoloring technique. for more details, please visit my blog - Neon diary

I created a "takeaway" boxes , and decorated them with the  Large Holly Background. I stamped in Distress ink, and then coloured in with distress markers.

We hope that you will join in this month's challenge and look forward to seeing your creations. Don't forget to add a comment when you have posted your entry.
Have a very Merry Month!

Note Book By Gemma

Hi Everyone

I covered a plain mini note book (7.5x10.5 CM), with fabric that I painted using stamps and Dylusions paints.

I used a sheet of adhesive backed fabric and scraped Dylusions, squeezed orange, fresh lime and vibrant turquoise paint  over the top in places using a card. I really tried to scrub and push the paint into the weave, so you could still see the weave through the paint.

Then using all the same colours of paint I stamped the square wire stamp, stamping both vertically and horizontally.

I then stamped over the top with calligraphy mat 11 using white dylusion paint.

I then stamped over the top, two different butterflies from the butterflies #2 plate, some of them did not stamp completely so I sketched over them with a black paint pen.

I cut the pages from the note book with a craft knife. Then recovered the cover by removing the backing from the self adhesive fabric, smoothed it in place on the front and then tucking it around  the sides, before I re-glued  the pages in place.
